Live the Life We Preach About

You may have seen the title of this exhortation - Live the Life We Preach About   - and some might be saying, oh we have heard this before.   Well, I have heard this before too.   But did the message go through one ear and come out the next? Or has it resonated with us to the point where we are becoming better persons as we walk this Christian journey?   James 3:13, reading from the New King James Version of The Bible, says: ”Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom.“   So straight off the bat, the Bible declares that if we think we are wise and understanding and don’t demonstrate that in our actions, we are fooling ourselves.   On the other hand, those who are truly wise and understanding won’t have to say I am wise and understanding; these attributes will manifest in their behaviour, mannerisms, attitudes, and actions. Here we have a challenge.   It’s a challenge be...

Move Past Yesterday, Embrace God’s Unfolding Plan

Truly I am humbled and delighted to be here with you once again on The Morning Joy Experience.   Coming off an unexpected health challenge, a subsequent operation and 2 weeks sick leave, I had a lot of time to reflect and be revived in the Spirit.   But I return today, not to dwell not on the past, but to look forward to a greater, brighter future that the Lord has already prepared for me.   I know that many of you would have gone through or are going through some challenging times right now - you lost loved ones, your relationships are in trouble, the bills are piling up and not enough money is coming in to pay them, not to mention the aches and pains. It is very easy for us to think about all the bad that has happened, but we must be encouraged to stay strong in the Lord, get past our past and embrace God’s unfolding plans for our lives. Not to say that it’s not necessary to reflect on the past, not to say it doesn’t do us any good pondering on wha could-have-been and w...

Don’t Tamper with The Word of God

When I started Joy Gospel Radio FM, now ZJoyVI, over 9 1/2 years ago, it was heavily based on playing a lot of really great gospel music.   That was what drew many persons to the program, no matter what radio station I worked at. Well there were only two Christian radio stations here in the BVI at the time. But you’ve heard me say over the years, now that I have my own radio station, that I have grown to accept that this is not just a program, because of the testimonies I receive from so many persons as they are blessed.   So as with any ministry, you grow in not only size but impact. Music, while it is still very important, now supplements the teaching of the Word of God, the praying, the encouragement and inspiration that one gets when they stop by here.   Music is no longer the main course during these two hours. The spoken Word of God must take precedence. Because you find that some songwriters and singers would embellish lyrics to rhyme more than sticking to the pure...

What’s in Your Cup?

There’s a motivational message being circulated, I saw it on Facebook, that gave me a lot of encouragement in these past couple of days. The author is unknown and I will reiterate here that I didn’t write it, but will amend as I present it to you. And some of you might have seen or heard it before as well. I trust that everyone here will be inspired to reflect on our attitudes and responses to the challenges of life. Imagine this scenario: You are holding a hot cup of bush tea when someone bumps into you, making you spill your tea everywhere. Question: Why did you spill the tea? Most of us would say, "Because someone bumped into me!" Wrong answer! Here’s what up! You spilt the tea because there was tea in your cup! Think about it. Had there been juice in the cup, you would have spilled juice. Right? So whatever is inside the cup is what will spill out. Get it? Got it! So here comes the spiritual analogy: When the difficulties of life make you feel like you can’t take it any...
