God Gives More Benefits to These People
The Bible teaches that we are all equal. Galatians 3:28 NKJV - ”There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.“
The Bible also teaches that God loves each and every one of His children the same. Romans 5:8 - ”But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.“
The Bible teaches that God is not partial. Acts 10:34 - ”Then Peter opened his mouth and said: “In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality.
So does this mean that God treats the atheist the same as He treats us as Christians?
After all, we are also told in Matthew 5:45 NKJV, that “our Father in heaven makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.“
So where does the concept come from that being a child of God has benefits that others don’t receive?
Do we as Christians get unlimited, constant access to God’s presence, love, and authority, while others outside of the household of faith do not?
Does God have favourites? Well the answer to that is no and yes. Follow me.
We already saw in Acts 10:34 that God doesn’t show favouritism with people.
But it goes on to say in verse 35 - ”But in every nation whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him.“
Also in Psalms 147:11, we hear that God rewards those who fear Him and do what is right.
So my understanding, and you can correct me if I’m wrong, is that God doesn’t base how He blesses people on external factors such as nationality or social status. However, when it comes to our spirituality, that’s a different story.
For indeed, God rewards us when we reverence Him, when we worship Him, when we pray to Him and seek His wisdom, guidance and help. God is pleased when we live according to His principles.
Proverbs 16:7 says ”When a man’s ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.“
I was watching a vlog on YouTube the other day and saw some visitors to an island walking on the beach. A security officer approached them and asked whether they were guests at the beachfront resort. They were not. So the security explained that it was necessary for him to explain to them that this was an all inclusive resort, and so while they are free to be at the beach, they cannot have free drinks at the bar, nor can they eat for free at the restaurant or engage in the luxurious amenities offered at the resort, such as the pool and the night life etc.
So follow me here. The persons at the beach were visitors to the island and so were the guests at the resort. All of them were allowed to enter the island, but only the guests at the resort could benefit from the special amenities offers by the resort.
So it’s like being a member of a club, where you pay a membership fee to benefit from exclusive deals that non members don’t have access to.
Do you get the picture?
As humans, we breathe the same air, we occupy pretty much the same space. Unfortunately all other basic essentials like food, water, clothing, shelter, employment etc, are not created equal or everyone doesn’t have equal access.
But my point is, this life is temporary. What happens to us in the hereafter is what separates us even while we are here on earth. Being a Christian makes us special.
Because even while we may not physically have as much as the other person, talking about material possessions, as Christians we can claim joy even when things aren’t going right for us.
As Christians, even when pain is rocking our bodies, we can claim healing or strength to go through.
And it’s in our belief system. We believe that God helps us and sees us through.
So are we not then better off than those who do not believe? Of course we are. It is what it is.
One can debate this subject, but ultimately the Bible tells us in John 1:12 - ”But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:“
So if you don’t believe, you won’t have the benefits God grants to His children, such as divine guidance and eternal life.
Because of our close, personal relationship with God, we are privileged to benefit from this inheritance. Those who don’t believe, unbelievers, are not as privileged as believers. Plain and simple.
But as believers, we must not think or act like we are in an exclusive club. We have been called to encourage everyone we meet to accept the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour as well, so that they can be as privileged as we are.
Revelation 22:17 ”And the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.“
Then we can all benefit equally from the good gifts, privileges and promises the Father wants to bestow on all of His children. But the choice is ours. As Christians, we get more benefits. We are privileged to get God’s divine guidance and eternal life.
Family, I am so glad today to be a child of God. Aren’t you?
Let us take full advantage today Family, of the unlimited, constant access we have to God’s presence, His love, and His sovereignty.
