Fresh Anointing for Revival and Renewal
We are at the end of another week and aren't we happy for the weekend? I am very glad for the Sabbath Day of rest!
Very often we would have worked so hard on the job during the week, or those who are retired still have so much to do, that we are all overjoyed to come to the end of another 6 days. But don't get too happy, before we know it, the cycle starts all over again, once the Lord allows.
On the weekend, we generally try to get some rest, along with going to church, don't we? Revival and renewal. So we are welcoming today fresh anointing for revival and renewal.
When churches are having evangelistic meetings, some folk look forward to it as an outing, somewhere to go.
But I want to submit to us that revival is not just an event or a temporary emotional experience. It is a divine encounter that we have as we earnestly seek the Lord.
And that is why we don't wait for an occasion like this or a church meeting, to get immersed in the Spirit. As children of God we are to have this encounter regularly – the anointing of the Holy Spirit. Because this restores the passion we should have for Christ every moment of every day, renews our hearts, and transforms our lives into becoming who God wants us to be.
Let's look at a few key aspects of revival and renewal through the lens of Scripture.
1. Revival Begins When God’s People Seek a Fresh Outpouring of His Spirit
Joel 2:28-29 (NKJV) – “And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions. And also on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days.”
This is why I can't do anything to revive your spirit. I can encourage you and pray for you. But ultimately, you have to receive a divine outpouring of the Holy Spirit. When we humble ourselves and seek God, He responds by pouring out His Spirit, bringing new life to His people.
2. The Anointing Refreshes Weary Hearts and Renews Faith
Isaiah 40:31 – “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”
Ever wondered why so many believers grow weary on this Christian journey? We yield to temptation, we become impatient, we take things granted, we allow people to discourage us, and we eventually back slide.
I want to remind us today that the fresh oil of anointing is available to each and everyone of us. The fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit can revive us, renew us, strengthen our faith and restore our spiritual endurance.
3. Revival and Renewal Restores Spiritual Fervour and Passion for God.
Psalm 85:6 – “Will You not revive us again, that Your people may rejoice in You?”
Family, revival reignites our love for God and deepens our hunger for His presence. It moves us from spiritual complacency to a place of fervent worship, prayer, and obedience.
4. Fresh Anointing Leads to Transformed Lives and Communities
Acts 3:19 – “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.”
When we are touched by a fresh anointing, our lives are changed, and the transformation spreads to families, churches, and communities. Said I wasn't gonna tell nobody but I can't keep it to myself. God is good oh so good. True revival brings lasting change, leading to righteousness, unity, and a renewed sense of purpose.
Habakkuk 3:2 – “O Lord, I have heard Your speech and was afraid; O Lord, revive Your work in the midst of the years! In the midst of the years make it known; in wrath remember mercy.”
2 Chronicles 7:14 – “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
Anybody here feeling for a revival?
Well, the first thing we have to do is repent. Yes, revival begins with repentance. The Bible says when God’s people turn back to Him, He responds with healing, restoration, and a fresh outpouring of His Spirit.
Jeremiah 29:12-13 “Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.”
Deuteronomy 28:1-2“Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God.”
Deuteronomy 28:7“The Lord will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before your face; they shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways.”
Deuteronomy 28:8“The Lord will command the blessing on you in your storehouses and in all to which you set your hand, and He will bless you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you.”
Deuteronomy 28:12“The Lord will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow.”
Family, as we seek God with humility and expectation, He will pour out His Spirit and bring revival in our lives, churches, and communities. No need to get discouraged or weary. Perk up, shape up, Jesus is coming soon.
Let us pray for a fresh anointing today for revival and renewal.
