Fresh Anointing for Intimacy with God
As the Holy Spirit leads, I continue, we continue to seek fresh anointing to face this another day.
While we would've prayed for and received blessings, favour, mercy, grace, protection, and anointing yesterday, we understand that the forces of evil are against us and so we need to be strengthened, prayed up, and have the continuous flow of the Holy Spirit's anointing in our lives.
And what's more, God Himself, the creator of this universe, wants to have an intimate relationship with us.
Just as David was anointed multiple times, we too must seek fresh encounters with God instead of relying on past anointing.
So what is this anointing again?
The anointing is God’s divine empowerment through the Holy Spirit. It is His presence resting upon us, teaching us, guiding us, and enabling us to draw closer to Him. Some people learn faster than others, while some learn at a slow pace, which is why reinforcement, repetition, and re-emphasising is necessary for our spiritual growth and in life generally.
1 John 2:27 (NKJV) “But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.”
So the anointing helps us remain in Christ, growing deeper in our relationship with Him, ensuring that we do not become spiritually complacent or dry. Fresh anointing for intimacy with God.
And if we are honest with ourselves, we know when we are losing faith, we know when we are slipping and sliding back into the world. Truth be told, many people see it in others and fail to acknowledge it in themselves.
Today, I want to encourage us to, as the Psalmist did, in Psalm 51, ask God to search us, wash us, cleanse us, blot out our sins, renew a right spirit within us, and restore unto us the joy of His salvation.
Like oil in a lamp that burns out, we can become spiritually dry if we do not receive fresh anointing.
Psalm 92:10 “But my horn You have exalted like a wild ox; I have been anointed with fresh oil.”
The horn is a symbol of strength and victory. The fresh oil represents a renewed presence and the continual infilling of the Holy Spirit, reviving our love for God, sharpening our discernment, and empowering us to walk in His will.
We need to constantly seek intimacy with God, Family, so that we do not lose our hunger for His presence. We do not want our spiritual lives to become routine or ritualistic, because true intimacy with God is about a living, dynamic relationship, not about empty religious practices.
And in doing this study, can I tell you? I am even more encouraged to continue along this path that the Holy Spirit has led me even before the start of 2025. We have to grow in Christ, which is what the Holy Spirit spoke to me about as we closed out in December. Remember?
Family, the music is good, it is important. But I submit to us today that delving into The Word for ourselves is even better. Amen?!
Jesus, speaking to the church in Ephesus, through the Apostle John, in Revelation 2:4 said: “Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love.”
ZJoyVI Family, no matter what we are going through, health challenges, financial struggles, problems in marriages, our children and grandchildren, with relatives and friends, we will remember our first love. Our first love is God and that deep devotion we had for Christ when we first believed.
This is why Holy Spirit is encouraging us here to continue to seek a fresh anointing for intimacy with Him. When we are intimate with God, when we have that deep, personal, and close relationship with Him, we will have confidence that all things will work together for our good, according to Romans 8:28.
Fresh anointing for intimacy with God.
In Isaiah 30:21 scripture says “Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it,’ whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.”
Isaiah 40:31 “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.”
Family, God wants to pour fresh oil upon us, but we must position ourselves to receive it. We cannot get caught up in the things of the world or even in monotonous worship, or we may miss out on intimacy with Jesus.
A sure sign that our spiritual fire is extinguishing, that our spiritual lamps are growing dim, is when our prayer life becomes less regular or less urgent, and worship feels like just another thing that we have to do.
Thank God for spiritual discernment so that we can know when to turn, turn, turn around, and align ourselves with his will walking in the path he has set before us.
Romans 8:26 “Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”
Family, we must give ourselves fully to God, not allowing anything to hinder His presence in our lives.
Romans 12:1 “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.”
When we surrender, we open the door for God’s anointing. Fresh anointing comes from dwelling in His presence daily, having an intimate relationship with God.
Psalm 16:11 “You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
Luke 11:13 “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”
We must prioritize time with God—reading His Word, worshiping, and listening to His voice.
All we have to do is ask, and He will fill us anew. A fresh anointing renews our strength and restores our passion for God.
So what is our call to action today, as we seek fresh anointing for intimacy with God?
1.Surrender completely to God.
2.Spend time in His presence daily.
3.Ask for a fresh outpouring of His Spirit.
May the Lord pour His fresh oil of anointing upon each of us today as we seek a deeper encounter with our Father, as we grow in Christ in 2025, as we seek intimacy with God today and forever more.
