Fresh Anointing to Be a Peacemaker and Promote Unity

I want to begin today by asking us a couple of questions:

1. How many of us prefer to be in a peaceful environment rather than one filled with tension and strife?

2. Who among us desires to be a peacemaker, bringing unity and harmony in our homes, workplaces, and communities?

3. Have you ever found yourself in the middle of conflict and wished for peace? What if God wants to use you to bring that peace?

4. What does it truly mean to be a peacemaker, and how can we walk in that calling every day?

5. Do you find it easier to avoid conflict or to actively pursue peace and unity? What does God call us to do?

The world we are living in is filled with division, conflict, and strife, but God is calling on us, His people, to be peacemakers.  Well, how can we? We have no control over what happens in the wider world. But here’s the thing, we are only responsible for what happens in our world, the people and situations we directly influence.

And the other thing is, that being a peacemaker is not about avoiding conflict but about carrying God’s presence into every situation. Doesn’t that make it a little easier?

And when we know that it takes two to tango, when we know that we fight from a place of victory, when we know we can draw for the Holy Spirit to pour out His oil of anointing on us during times of conflict, we become empowered to become peacemakers and promote unity.

Matthew 5:9 (NKJV) tells us “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.”

Jesus makes it clear that those who actively seek peace are not only blessed but also recognized as God’s true children. This means that promoting peace and unity is a reflection of God's character in us.

1. Fresh Anointing Empowers Us for Peace

Here is this verse again. Isaiah 61:1 (NKJV) – “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.”

Just as Jesus was anointed to bring healing and freedom, we need a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit to bring peace into our relationships and communities. Without the Holy Spirit, our efforts will be in our own strength. But with fresh anointing, we operate in God’s power.

2. Unity Comes from Walking in the Spirit

Ephesians 4:3 – “Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”

Now, we know that unity does not happen automatically. Sometimes, try as we might, trouble, confusion, chaos, just seem to follow some people. As a matter of fact, some people take confusion with them wherever they go.

So if we want peace, wonderful peace, we must pursue it. We have to literally chase it down. Because people who carry the spirit of confusion won’t leave you alone.

Thank God for the Holy Spirit, who enables us to walk in humility, patience, and love, all of which are necessary for true unity. When we are led by the Spirit, we become instruments of God’s peace. And this reminds me of the song, Lord make me an instrument of Your peace.

3. Overcoming Strife with the Wisdom of God

James 3:17 – “But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.”

Peacemakers must rely on God’s wisdom rather than human emotions. I can testify that relying on our emotions does not work in an argument or a fight. Of course, I learned that the hard way. But experience has taught me to either be silent or respond in love when faced with a confrontational situation.

Family, we have to become spiritually mature in order to get there. We have to be filled with the Holy Spirit to be able to set aside our emotions in times when we want to lash out. The wisdom of God is what helps us to respond with gentleness instead of anger, mercy instead of judgment, and unity instead of division.

4. Practical Ways to Be a Peacemaker

1. Pray for Fresh Anointing Daily – Ask the Holy Spirit to fill you with His power each day. (Acts 1:8)

2. Control Your Words – Speak life, not division (Proverbs 15:1).

3. Seek Reconciliation – Take the first step in mending broken relationships (Romans 12:18).

4. Encourage Others Toward Unity – Be an example of love and forgiveness.(Matthew 5:44).

Family, the greatest conflict taking place in the world today is that between good and evil, truth and lies. The enemy is on a rampage to bring disunity where people are trying to live in peace. So we have to be strong in the Lord.

What a wonderful world it would be when we can live in peace, where there is no misunderstanding that leads to fighting.

Psalm 133:1 “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!”

As in the days of Moses, so shall it be for us one of these days. Exodus 14:13-14 “…Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never again see forever. The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.’”

God delights in unity, Family, and He blesses those who seek to bring peace. As we ask for a fresh anointing today, may we walk in the power of the Holy Spirit and be true peacemakers in a world that desperately needs God’s love.

Let us not look at the other person to make peace. Let us instead make the first move, and the second and however many it takes. Sometimes that is not possible, but know that God sees your efforts.

Fresh anointing to be a peacemaker and promote unity.
