How to Receive a Fresh Anointing & Walk in Power
Since the start of this series, we have established that a fresh anointing is essential for every believer who desires to walk in God’s power.
We must never get tired of hearing that, because not everyone will get it at the same time.
So while you would have grasped the concept, even before we began, there are others who are hearing this, it is resonating in their spirit, but that’s about it.
Even me. I am so empowered as I am learning of the many ways I can depend on the Holy Spirit to pour out fresh anointing on me, so that I can receive more from God.
So we are reminded that the anointing is the divine enablement of the Holy Spirit, equipping us to fulfill God’s purpose. Just as oil was poured upon prophets, priests, and kings in the Old Testament, God still anoints His people today for service.
Psalm 92:10 (AMP) declares, “But my horn [my emblem of strength and power] You have exalted like that of a wild ox; I am anointed with fresh oil [for Your service].”
Every day, Family, God offers us a refreshing. Every day, God wants to continually empower us.
But as we heard from callers yesterday, we have a role to play.
Receiving a fresh anointing requires intimacy with God.
The more we spend time in His presence through prayer, worship, and meditating on His Word, the more we are filled with His Spirit.
Acts 4:31 says, “And when they had prayed, the place where they were meeting together was shaken [by a great earthquake]; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak the word of God with boldness and courage.”
Prayer and surrender open the door for a fresh infilling of the Holy Spirit, enabling us to walk in power.
Another key to receiving a fresh anointing is obedience. The Holy Spirit flows freely in the life of those who are yielded to Him.
In 1 Samuel 16:13, Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed David in the presence of his brothers; and the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon David from that day forward.”
David’s anointing was directly connected to his heart of obedience and submission to God. Likewise, when we obey God’s leading, we position ourselves to receive more of His power.
Faith also plays a crucial role in walking in God’s power. We must believe that the anointing of the Holy Spirit is available to us.
Jesus said in John 7:38-39, “He who believes in Me [who adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Me], as the Scripture has said, ‘From his innermost being will flow continually rivers of living water.’”
This living water represents the power of the Holy Spirit working through us. The more we trust and step out in faith, the more we see His anointing operate in our lives.
Finally, maintaining a fresh anointing requires a lifestyle of holiness. Sin grieves the Holy Spirit and hinders His power in our lives.
Ephesians 4:30 warns, “And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God [but seek to please Him], by whom you were sealed and marked [branded as God’s own] for the day of redemption.”
So, as we pursue righteousness and turn away from anything that displeases God, we create a vessel that He can fill with fresh oil.
But Family, with all of this, we have to understand and remember that receiving a fresh anointing is not a one-time event but a continual process.
Receiving this fresh anointing and spending time with God, walking in obedience, stepping out in faith, and living a life that honours Him, we position ourselves to be filled and refilled with His power.
May we always seek His fresh anointing so that we can walk boldly and effectively in His purpose.
