God Will Do What He Promised

After Intercessory prayer this past Friday night and receiving that prayer for me and the new direction of this ministry, the Holy Spirit had me lingering in the studio for a bit.

It must have been to hear this song that started playing by The Barnes Family that blessed me so much, because of this season I’m in.

The song is called God’s Promise. It was released way back in 1999.

This section was repeated over and over throughout the song. And it resonated in my spirit.

“Everything He said in His Word, He will do it for you. Every prophecy He gave, every promise He made, He will do it for you.”

But they didn’t stop there. And I’m glad they didn’t. Because many times we expect good to drop in our laps even while we are doing bad.

The Barnes Family went on to sing: if you only trust Him and let Him have His way, He’ll work things out for you. Only believe and you will see, He will do it for you.

The song was just over 5 minutes and that’s all they sang - different improvisations,  as the song changed from a slow beat to a faster tempo.

But that was all it took. A timely reminder for me, that in this season you’re in Angela, God is with you, He has made you some promises and He will do it.

I said I had to share this first chance I got. Because this is also a message for somebody else today.

I can speak to the season I’m in - one of solitude yet openness, introspection and reflection, upward mobility, focus, applying The Word of God in my life, and just doing what I can to ensure that I speak The Word and walk the talk.

So what season do you find yourself in? And how are you coping? Are you ensuring that you draw on the promises of God to see you through? Because we know that this is no time to slacken our riding!

Family, we can all take comfort today in knowing that whatever season we are in, God is faithful to do that which He promised us.

So what has He promised us?

There are said to be over 7,000 promises made by God in the Bible.

The one that forms the foundation of our faith as Christians and provides hope and security for us, is the promise of salvation and eternal life found in John 3:16 NKJV - “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

Romans 10:9 reaffirms that -  “…if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Another of God’s Promises we cling to is that His Presence will be ever near.

It is comforting to know that during life’s challenging times and when our family members, closest friends, business partners or even our church brothers and sisters forget about us, there is One who is our Strong Tower, always by our side.

Hebrews 13:5 “…I will never leave you nor forsake you.””

And Matthew 28:20 “…and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

So as believers, we can trust in the constancy of God’s presence. There is no wavering, He is never too busy for us, He doesn’t decide one day He is going to be with us and the next minute He changes His mind. Hallelujah.

You know what I am also glad about in terms of the promises of God? That He will forgive my sins. What about you? Anybody here, like me, did some things that others and even yourself have a hard time forgiving you for?

Thanks be to God that He beckons us to come to Him for a cleansing, when we recognize our wrong and feel the need to change.

Isaiah 1:18 ““Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool.”

1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

What a promise!

And where would we be without God’s Provision? This is a promise fulfilled already.

What do you need right now? We have no lack, Family. Sometimes we think we are in need but we are really just in want. Check it out.

Matthew 6:31-33 ““Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”

Philippians 4:19 tells us “…God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

That includes your basic necessities, wisdom, guidance, strength, favour - you name it.

Then there is peace, peace, wonderful peace, coming down from the Father above. Love that song, love me some peace. Thanks be to God for this promise.

In the midst of life’s loudness and chaos, we can have that promised peace from God that transcends all understanding.  Philippians 4:6-7.

The list of God’s promises are there for the taking.

But I want to end by highlighting the promise of hope and a future. Glory to God.

Can you image a day without hope for better?

When we look at the evil in this world, we are so glad that we know that one of these days, oh one of these days, Jesus will put an end to everything bad.

Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

And Romans 8:28 bless the name of Jesus: “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

So what is our calling today Family?

We must love the Lord. And if we love Him we will keep His commandments. And if we keep His commandments He will bless us and guide us in His ways, granting us peace, joy, and eternal life in His presence.

May we fully embrace the promises of God today

May our faith be strengthened and our relationship with God be enhanced.
