Fresh Anointing for Unshakeable Joy and Peace
Joy and peace are two beautiful emotions and states of being.
Joy is a fruit of the spirit downloadable only from God Himself. Galatians 5:22-23 (NIV) – "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.Against such things there is no law.”
Joy does not depend on circumstances. That’s why Christians don’t seek happiness. One gets happy from the things of the world. Christians seek joy - that deep sense of gladness and contentment we get when we come to know and trust our God.
Joy, Family, is experienced when we are in God’s presence, when we receive salvation, and reap His promises. Joy sustains believers through trials and is a defining characteristic of life in the Spirit.
So when we have joy, even though we are going through the fire or a flood, we will still have a song in our heart and a praise on our lips. We will still go about our lives with a pep in our step, knowing that every fiery dart of the wicked targeted against us will miss the mark. Isaiah 54:17
Nehemiah 8:10 reminds us that the joy of the Lord is our strength.
Now peace, we have heard often, and we know this, is more than just the absence of conflict; it is a state of wholeness, well-being, and harmony with God, with yourself, with myself, and with others.
We also use the Hebrew word "Shalom" here every day. Shalom is the Hebrew word for peace.
We read in John 14:27, Jesus speaking, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."
Ephesians 2:14 "For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility."
Yet there are so many issues that we face on a daily basis that can shake our emotions, especially our joy and peace. So today we come seeking fresh anointing from the Holy Spirit for unshakeable joy and peace. I need me some of that.
We understand that the anointing is the empowerment and divine enablement of the Holy Spirit, equipping individuals for a specific purpose, such as ministry, leadership, or service in God's kingdom.
Just as physical strength can be depleted, spiritual anointing must be refreshed. Daily challenges can drain a person, so that’s why we ask for a fresh infilling, a replenishing. Ephesians 5:18 says we must be filled with the Spirit.
When it comes to unshakeable, and you would notice that I am defining the key terms, this means, in relation to our theme for today, that no matter what is going on around us, we stand firm, steadfast, and we will not let our joy and peace be easily disturbed.
Psalm 125 verse 1 declares: “Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever.”
Having said all of that, the key things for us to note here today, as we seek fresh anointing for unshakeable joy and peace:
#1. The anointing comes from God and is continuously renewed for those who seek Him. So we must stay connected to Him through prayer, worship, and the Word.
#2. Joy is a fruit of the Spirit, not based on external circumstances. The Holy Spirit is The One that gives unshakeable joy, When we walk in the anointing, we experience supernatural joy, even in the face of difficulties.
#3. You and I can have that peace that passes all understanding that overcomes every storm in our lives. God’s peace remains firm in trials. And the anointing enables believers to stand strong in faith, free from fear and anxiety.
#4. We have to stay filled with fresh oil. To maintain unshakeable joy and peace, we must continually seek a fresh infilling of the Holy Spirit. Daily communion with God renews our strength and fills us with divine peace and joy.
And #5. The anointing destroys burdens and removes yokes, making us victorious in every season. So yes, we have trials and tribulations and difficulties and problems, you name it. But when we walk in fresh anointing, we live in confidence, knowing that God’s joy and peace will sustain us.
Isaiah 10:27 – “It shall come to pass in that day that his burden will be taken away from your shoulder, and his yoke from your neck, and the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil.”
And Romans 15:13 – “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Family, I encourage us to allow the fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit to empower us to live with unshakeable joy and peace.
Now, I never said it would be easy. In fact, God doesn’t promise us a life without trouble, in this world. Adam and Eve brought us sin and hardship, but thanks be to God for His plan of salvation and the choice we have to focus on what we can control — like our mindset, our actions, and the real support systems around us. We can’t have the fake ones in these times. They will kill your spirit if you’re not careful.
Family, let us stay in the presence of God, trusting in His promises and being filled with the Holy Spirit, so that we can have that unshakeable joy and peace to keep us in these times.
