Breaking Financial Curses: God’s Plan for Abundance & Prosperity
In today’s world, many people fall victim to what is called “get-rich-quick” schemes.
These are false promises made by people usually in your friends circle or people you look up to, who convince you that you can get a lump sum of money, if you do this one thing, nothing too much, nothing out of the ordinary, nothing that is going to make you have to work too hard.
From pyramid scams to cryptocurrency frauds, these traps literally take advantage of desperate people, leaving them worse off than before.
Why? Because they rely on deception and shortcuts, and not on God’s wisdom.
You hardly find anybody coming to you with a proposal so to speak that if you search the scriptures you will find the algorithm, you will find the recipe, you will find the ingredients to a prosperous life.
And note I said hardly, because they are preachers who in fact promote the real prosperity Gospel from the Bible. Not the one that makes them rich when they insist that you must give an offering before you leave this building today. Mercy!
So let me be clear—this right here, is not another prosperity gospel message that tells you God is a vending machine for wealth. No, this is the real deal. This is about God’s way—a life of abundance that flows from faith, wisdom, diligence, and obedience to His principles.
Disappointed? If you haven't already turned off this video, let us continue.
1. Let's talk about God’s Plan for True Prosperity
God desires for us to live abundantly—not just financially, but in every area of life.
Jesus Himself said: John 10:10 – “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
So abundant life is God’s design for His children, but it’s not about shortcuts or selfish gain. It’s about walking in divine wisdom and kingdom principles.
2. Wealth God’s Way – The Foundation
Many wonder, "Why am I struggling financially? Why isn’t my business thriving?" The answer isn’t in manipulation or chance, but in alignment with God's principles.
Deuteronomy 8:18 (KJV) – “But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.”
God gives us the ability to create wealth—not through schemes, but through wisdom, skills, diligence, and divine favour.
Here are some key principles to follow:
✔ Diligence & Work Ethic – Proverbs 10:4 – “Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth.”
✔ Wisdom & Stewardship – Proverbs 21:5 – “The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.”
✔ Generousity & Kingdom Giving – Luke 6:38 – “Give, and it will be given to you.”
3. The 3rd point: Eternal Wealth – More Than Just Money
True riches go beyond financial wealth. So the fact that you may not have $1 million in the bank that doesn't mean that you're poor. You may not have your own house, you may not own a vehicle, you may not even have a job that provides you with enough money to meet your bills on a monthly basis with any leftover.
God has said in His Word that He wants us to prosper and be in health.
3 John 1:2 (KJV) – “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”
So what does that prosperity mean?
Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) – “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Psalm 1:1-3 (KJV) – “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”
Joshua 1:8 (KJV) – “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
This prosperous life, Family, includes:
✅A Healthy Mind (Isaiah 26:3 – "You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast.")
✅A Strong Family (Psalm 128:3 – "Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your children will be like olive shoots around your table.")
✅A Thriving Business or Career (Colossians 3:23 – "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.")
Above all, Family, eternal life is the greatest blessing. Jesus asks in Mark 8:36: “What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?”

4. So, the fourth point is: The Responsibility of Wealth and Abundance
Many people think wealth is only for personal enjoyment, but in God's kingdom, prosperity comes with responsibility.
2 Corinthians 9:11 – “You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.”
We touched on this yesterday when we were talking about the Abrahamic blessings. God blesses us so that we can:
✔ Bless others – Whether through giving, mentoring, or serving.
✔ Be a light in the world – Our success should point others to God's goodness.
✔ Advance God's kingdom – Financial resources should be used to help spread the gospel and uplift communities.
True prosperity isn’t about selfish accumulation—it’s about availing yourself to be used by God to bless others. And that is not selfish, because if you're in a position to bless others, it means that you are already blessed. Amen?!
So if we want to get rich and stay rich, we must align ourselves with God's plan. Amen, hallelujah, thank You Jesus. That's the formula right there!
If we want to get rich and stay rich—in finances, health, family, and peace—we must follow God’s way. No shortcuts, no schemes, just His timeless principles.
Matthew 6:33 tells us “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
Now, the choice is yours, the choice is mine: will we trust God’s way to abundance, or the world’s empty promises?
We can leave here today and begin or continue to live a prosperous life, but it must be God’s way!
